Strategic Cooperation Agreement Between Awj and AAOIFI to Strengthen International Professional Certification in Palestine
In a landmark achievement for Palestine, Awj Financial Consulting, Advisory and Arbitration Company has announced the signing of a Strategic Cooperation Agreement with the Accounting and Auditing Organization for Islamic Financial Institutions (AAOIFI), headquartered in the Kingdom of Bahrain. AAOIFI is globally recognized as the leading standard-setting body for Shariah, accounting, auditing, ethics, and governance standards in the Islamic finance industry. This agreement represents a significant national milestone, strengthening Palestine's position by providing direct institutional access to internationally recognized professional certification in Islamic finance.
Under the agreement, Awj has been officially accredited as an Authorized Training Provider for AAOIFI's professional qualification programs and as an Official Examination Center for AAOIFI's internationally recognized professional certification examinations. This accreditation enables professionals, practitioners, and aspiring specialists in Palestine to pursue internationally accredited qualifications through globally recognized quality assurance and examination standards.
The strategic significance of this agreement stems from AAOIFI's distinguished international standing. AAOIFI serves as the principal reference for central banks, regulatory authorities, Islamic financial institutions, and Takaful insurance companies across numerous jurisdictions. Its standards constitute the global benchmark upon which Islamic financial policies, regulatory frameworks, governance practices, and financial products are developed and implemented.
Commenting on the occasion, Dr. Fadi Mahmoud Husni Abu Diak, Founder and General Director of Awj, stated:
"We regard this agreement as the most significant strategic achievement in Awj's history since its establishment, given its profound professional and national implications. AAOIFI's professional qualifications are among the most prestigious international credentials in Islamic finance and represent a global benchmark of excellence in Islamic banking, finance, Takaful, Shariah governance, Shariah audit, accounting, and compliance. Making these internationally recognized certifications accessible in Palestine through our nationally accredited institution marks a genuine milestone in empowering Palestinian professionals and enhancing governance, compliance, and professional excellence within our financial institutions."
Dr. Abu Diak further added:
"The value of AAOIFI's professional certifications extends far beyond employees of Islamic banks, financing companies, and Takaful operators. They are equally valuable for university students and postgraduate researchers, serving as a global gateway to advanced professional knowledge and internationally recognized practical expertise. These qualifications significantly enhance career opportunities at the local, regional, and international levels while reinforcing Palestine's role as an active participant in the global Islamic finance ecosystem."
The agreement is expected to generate a tangible and lasting impact on Palestine's financial and banking sector by strengthening human capital, supporting institutions in aligning their operations with internationally recognized standards, and enhancing the confidence of both domestic and international stakeholders in the Palestinian financial sector.
During the coming period, Awj will announce the roadmap for its AAOIFI-related activities, including accredited professional certification pathways, official examination schedules, registration procedures for individuals and institutions, and specialized professional development programs. These initiatives reflect the company's commitment to serving the Islamic finance sector in Palestine in accordance with the highest international professional standards and Shariah principles, while remaining true to its enduring slogan:
"Halal... and Peace of Mind."
This initiative also reflects Awj's broader vision of achieving a balanced integration between Shariah principles and modern finance through an innovative, digitally driven approach that meets the evolving needs of the Islamic financial industry.
